kJams keeps backups of the index ("Songs.ktd") file, so that if you run into trouble of some kind, you can restore from one of your backups.

Currently, there's no bulit-in way to do this, so here's how you do it manually.

  1. Quit kJams
  2. go to the "kJams Library" folder. it is located here:
    /Users/<you>/Music/kJams/kJams Library/...
  3. inside that folder, you see a sub-folder called "Songs.ktd [Backups]" ? If not, you're running a version of kJams that is too old, and the only way out is to restore from a backup that YOU made. Stop here, and manually restore from your own backup.
  4. assuming you do see a "Songs.ktd [Backups]" folder, keep going
  5. you will see a file called "Songs.ktd". Delete it.
  6. go into the backups folder, sort by DATE, with the latest one at the top
  7. find the most recent date when things were GOOD (ie: before the time when things went bad)
  8. drag that file out one level, into the "kJams Library" folder
  9. rename the file so that it says "Songs.ktd". ie: if it was "Songs 73.ktd", remove the space and the 73 by renaming the file
  10. now run kJams, you should be back in business
  11. if you are back in business, you may delete all backups except for the most recent, to save space
