Some time in 2014, "kJams 2" will switch to a "Subscription Model" (with free tech support), and "kJams 1" will switch to "Paid Tech Support".
Some time soon, kJams will switch to an optional "Subscription Model". I say optional because there will be no requirement for you to switch, you will be free to continue using your perpetual license, which will never be revoked. There will come a time when new updates will no longer be available to perpetual licenses, however, except for critical bug fixes.

For the subscription, I'm thinking it will be $10 per month.  That works out to $120 per year.  With that you get free, enterprise-level tech support and continuous updates.
For the subscription, for Lite users, it will be $5 per month (including burning) which includes 1 hour of ETS (Enterprise Tech Support) (see below), and for Pro/2 (which will merge), it will be $10 per month, and 2 hours of ETS.

This works out pretty great for users: If you use kJams only 3 months per year, then it only costs you $30 per year.  Want to use it just once?  That's $10.  Next time you subscribe, you get ALL the latest updates.

For $5 per month, you get 1 hour for free.  For $10 per month you get 2 hours for free. The rest is Paid Tech Support (see below), on a sliding scale. For each extra $5 you wish to put in, you get another hour. Note that unused minutes do NOT roll over to the next month (otherwise for each Pro user who didn't call me for a year, they could demand a week of full time work from me, and I just can't do that).

Note that with a Subscription, all tech support is always free.  Only "kJams 1" (perpetual license) users will be charged.
For those who choose NOT to switch to Subscription or who have used their free hour(s) from ETS:

phone and screen sharing time: $20 - $80 per hour, pro-rated per minute.  The "sliding fee scale" depends on your circumstances and how much you think it's worth. Hopefully you value my time. Note that i'm not really here to teach basic computer skills.

If you upgrade to kJams 2 now, before we switch (or if you already upgraded), you'll get TWO YEARS of free updates.  That's right, you won't be charged for your subscription for TWO YEARS *after* we switch to the Subscription Model (whenever that is)!
Email & Text chat Tech Support are always free, as long as it doesn't start taking up all of my time

Here's the math: it costs $140 for kJams 2.  Under the subscription model, that gets you 14 months (1 year and 2 months).  If you bought it the day before we switched, you'd end up with 10 free months of serviceBut if you get it NOW, (November 2013), and we don't switch to "Subscription Model" until July of 2014, then you will get 17 free months of service (1 year 5 months)!
Also, if you call about a problem that turns out to be a bug, ie: my fault, then there will be NO CHARGEI may spend hours on your computer trying to track down the problem, there will be no charge for that at all.<br>

For the subscription, for Lite users, it will be $5 per month (including burning) which includes 1 hour of ETS (Enterprise Tech Support) (see below), and for Pro/2 (which will merge), it will be $10 per month, and 2 hours of ETS.

This works out pretty great for users: If you use kJams Pro/2 only 3 months per year, then it only costs you $30 per year. Want to use it just once? That's $10. Next time you subscribe, you get ALL the latest updates.

I'm doing this in order to make my income sustainable, so that I can retire from my day job and work on kJams full time.

Enterprise Tech Support

For Subscribers only.

This includes talking on the phone 1:1 and doing screen sharing so that I can personally coach you and fix whatever problems you have with kJams.
