# go to the "File System" browser (Mac: "Finder", Win: "Windows Explorer")
# switch to the Venue that you want the singer to show up in
# go to your User's "Music" folder, then go into "kJams/kJams Library/Venues"
# go to the File menu and pick "Venues->Load Singer from other Venue"
# go to the folder with the name of the Venue where the singer was originally added
# you will be shown the "File Select" dialog, where you can pick what venue the singer is coming from
# find the singer in the "Singers" folder inside the Venue folder
# go inside the venue you want
# make an alias (shortcut) of that singer in the new venue, there are two ways to do it:
# inside that folder, go inside the "Singers" folder
## method 1:
# you can now see the list of singers from the other venue
### select that singer folder
# select one or more singers from the other venue
### Mac: in the File menu pick "Make Alias", or Windows: in the File menu pick "Create Shortcut"
# click "Choose"
### drag the alias into the new venue
### rename it such that it does not have the word "alias" or "shortcut" in the name
## method 2:
### hold these keys down: Mac: command-alt, or Windows: alt
### while holding the keys, drag the singer from the original venue to the new venue
## you may want to rename the singer if the name is too similar to another name already in the new venue
# if kJams is running, go to the menu bar and pick "File->Venue->Reload Venue"


For example, if Dave shows up at Venue A, and also frequents Venue B, you can make an alias to Dave from Venue A, and place it in the Venue B folder. You can rename the alias so it does not collide with someone already at Venue B. When a singer modifies their favorites, history or "Tonight" list from the alias, it actually modifies the original, so when they go back to Venue A, all their changes show up there too.
That's it!  The singer(s) you picked will now be available at the first venue!

A venue is a location that has it's own set of Singers. Mobile KJ's, when arriving at a particular venue, can simply switch kJams to that venue, and all the singers that frequent it will then be available. In addition, Singers can be moved or aliased between venues using the Finder.

Venue management is done in the File menu.

Same Singer, different Venues

To have a singer be able to "show up" at more than one venue:

  1. switch to the Venue that you want the singer to show up in
  2. go to the File menu and pick "Venues->Load Singer from other Venue"
  3. you will be shown the "File Select" dialog, where you can pick what venue the singer is coming from
  4. go inside the venue you want
  5. inside that folder, go inside the "Singers" folder
  6. you can now see the list of singers from the other venue
  7. select one or more singers from the other venue
  8. click "Choose"

That's it! The singer(s) you picked will now be available at the first venue!
