Also, KA is set up in such a way that it is NOT POSSIBLE to have two of the same song that are from different albums.  If you try to do that, one will over-write the other.  So don't try it!

kJams works with Karaoke Anywhere

You can rip your songs from your discs, then export them in a "Karaoke Anywhere" compatible format. Note it only works with Zipped MP3+G files, not with movies or other audio/video formats.

  1. if you have not already, install the LAME MP3 Encoder, then restart kJams
  2. go to preferences->Importing, set your "Audio Encoder" to "LAME" (preset: "Best")
  3. Check the "Zip files when ripping" and "Create Playlists of Imported Songs" preferences
  4. Go to the "Exporting" pref panel
  5. Set "Export name template" to "R-S-L"
  6. Go to the "Tags" pref panel
  7. Set "Conform Names" to "R-S-L", make sure it is checked, and make sure "Update media meta tags" is checked
  8. if you have not ripped your discs yet or bought your songs

  9. make a playlist of all the songs you want to export to KA
  10. Select that playlist, go File->Export->Entire Playlist: All Files...
  11. Pick "Flat", if it tells you that you could overwrite files, pick "I Know"
  12. go to the Desktop, pick "new folder", give it a name like "KA exports", press "Choose"
  13. delete that playlist (you no longer need it)
  14. go File->Add to library
  15. select that folder you just exported, click "Choose"

  19. Select all the songs that are not MP3 (eg: AAC)
  20. Advanced->Convert Selection to: "LAME MP3: Best", and wait for the activities to complete

  22. select any songs that do NOT have an entry under the "File: Zip" column (blank entry)

  24. any songs that still do not have an entry under the "File: Zip" column are not eligible to use with KA, you can remove them from the playlist. Let me know if you think something is wrong there (remember: no movies)
  25. Sort by "Song Name", then hide the "File: Zip" sort column

  27. pick "Advanced->Special->Push Meta Data" (you can also right click)
  28. File->Export->Entire Playlist: All Files
  29. Pick "Flat", if it tells you that you could overwrite files, pick "I Know"
  30. Create a new folder on the desktop
  31. Export to that folder
  32. Go back to prefs->Tags
  33. Set "Conform Song Names" back to "L-T-R-S", click OK
  34. Quit kJams
  35. run iTunes
  36. select your iOS device
  37. click the Apps tab
  38. scroll down, select "Karaoke Anywhere" or "Karaoke Pro"
  39. in the Finder, in that folder you created, select all the songs
  40. Drag them into the "Karaoke Anywhere Documents" or "Karaoke Pro Documents" panel in iTunes
  41. Sync!
