You must manually keep the two synchronized. To do so, designate one as the master (where you make changes) and one as the slave (all changes to this one are overwritten by the master). WARNING: does not work cross platform. Must pick one platform (mac or windows)
note that wherever you see the TILDE (~/) below, it means your Home folder.
- start by updating kJams to the latest version
- If you have any music files that reside outside your ~/Music/kJams folder:
- move them to the corresponding place on the new computer. Note they must have the same path in their new location, as in the original location (including hard drive name / drive letter)
- If you have any music files on an external disk:
- Mount that same disc at your destination (Windows: must have same drive letter)
- If your user name on the new computer is different from the user name on the old one:
- Create a symbolic link on the new computer, with the old name, pointing to the new name. See The Symbolic Link Trick to make a shortcut / alias, or ask for help.
- In the Finder, go to your Music folder: ~/Music/kJams/
- Drag the entire "kJams" folder to your other computer, in the same place
- run kJams on the old computer, go Help->Reveal Preferences, then quit
- run kJams on the NEW computer, go Help->Reveal Preferences, then quit
- on the new computer, delete the "kJams" folder just revealed in the preferences folder
- Drag that entire preferences folder (the one called "kJams") from the old computer to your other computer, in the same place
You must manually keep the two synchronized. To do so, designate one as the master (where you make changes) and one as the slave (all changes to this one are overwritten by the master). Then just use a file sync tool to go from master to slave. Do NOT do a two-way sync, this will not work. On mac, you can use File Synchronization.
