An excellent tip from a dedicated kJams user:
==Music Store Songs==
If the song came from one of the built in music stores, you can just re-sync it to grab a fresh copy. Do this:
#select the bad song
#right click->trash original files
#right click the Music Store playlist that the song came from, pick "Sync Previous Purchases"
That should fix it!
==Songs that came from Windows==
This is common among songs that were compressed using winzip that you may find on the internet. they aren't technically all corrupt, tho some may actually be. most are compressed using a method that is NOT "deflate" (a typical codec that the ZIP format employs), and there is no software on the mac (stuffit, zlib, BOMArchiveHelper) that can decompress these non-deflate zip files. but move it on over to windows and it'll unzip fine, then re-zip it using zlib, you should be good to go.
==WinZip==
This just in: there is a [http://www.winzip.com/mac/en/winzip.html WinZip for Mac].  I have NOT tried it, but if it works the way i think it will, it may actually be able to unzip the files that were zipped on windows using the "non-deflate" method.
==What to do with the rest==
If you're left with a bunch that you just can't open, the only thing to do is remove them from your life.


I just wanted to give you some FYI's I've discovered with the Stuffit problems I have had lately [...] that may effect the unzipping part of kJams and make it hang from there.
# Go to that "Corrupted Zip Files" playlist
I have tested Stuffit 7.0 - 10.01 with your latest version of kJams Lite (1.0d40r8).
# select all
 
# go to the edit menu, pick "Trash original files"
# If [kJams gets] Error #17538 when using zipped files kJams will always note that it is a corrupted file.
# Expander Version 7.0 sucks. It will not expand the file and kJams will [hang] But,
# Expander Version 7.0.3 has a fix in it that WILL allow kJams to go on. It will still say that it is an Error #17538 but hit OK and KJams trudges on flawlessly.
 
All other versions of Stuffit expander (Deluxe and Standard) have '''more''' problems... I haven't had too much time to investigate what type of Zip that is hanging it up but most zips that DONT [expand successfully] usually have been encrypted with an empty string [as the password] '''or''' may have comments [embedded] in the zipped file. I have opened them up in Stuffit Deluxe (any version) and verified the zip. It may [function fine in kJams] after you:
 
# Open Stuffit Deluxe
# Select File/Verify/Other...
# Open the zip file.
# It will say "Archive verification failed!  An error was found while verifying "Filename.zip".  It may still be possible to recover data from this archive.  Would you like to try and create a new archive containing recovered data from this archive?
# Choose OK and the Damaged Archive Password box comes up.
# Choose Continue. It unzips the archive just fine.  Of note** On a majority of these files I have the .mp3, cdg, and a comments file. I take the comments file and trash it before I make the zip.
# I strip the ".zip Recovered Items" off the folder name.
# I use Stuffit to make another zip file and place it back where it was and everything is fine after that.

Music Store Songs

If the song came from one of the built in music stores, you can just re-sync it to grab a fresh copy. Do this:

  1. select the bad song
  2. right click->trash original files
  3. right click the Music Store playlist that the song came from, pick "Sync Previous Purchases"

That should fix it!

What to do with the rest

If you're left with a bunch that you just can't open, the only thing to do is remove them from your life.
