If the auto-updater fails, or you get an error when checking for a new version, it's likely that your copy of kJams has a bug related to the auto updater itself.
The solution is simple:
If the auto updater fails, just go to the downloads page and download kJams, and install it over your existing one.
Note if you're on Windows, there are some hoops to jump through to get installed.
You will not have to pay again, and you will not lose your data.
But the update says it is fixed!
You may get an update notification saying that the auto updater has been fixed.
But the catch-22 is that it is NOT fixed in the version you currently have, so you have to do a manual update to get the version of kJams where the updater works, and then it will (should!) work for the NEXT update.
