Here's how you can get ffmpeg (open source software) into your system now:

Macintosh

  1. download VCD & MPEG Tools (Make sure you get the one "for Mac OS X"). Note: it says "15 day trial" but that does NOT affect kJams. However, I do encourage you to buy it anyway, it's a great tool for converting any VCDs that you run into.
  2. mount the disk image (it should mount automatically, if not, double click the .dmg file)
    1. if this disc image does not mount, then download it from here instead.
  3. drag the application to your "Applications" folder.

Windows

  1. download this zip file (which, by the way, came from here, the "32-bit Static" version)
  2. unzip the zip file
  3. find "ffmpeg.exe"
  4. navigate to your user's home folder: /Users/<you>
  5. in the address bar, type "/AppData" (it's an invisible folder), then press ENTER
  6. navigate to "/Roaming/kJams Plugins/"
  7. put the ffmpeg app into that plugins folder

You're Done!

That's it! You're all set, you do not need to restart kJams. kJams will "just know" where to look for the plugin.
